And the Biopsy That Was

Got dragged back in yesterday for a 'let's get it done before Easter' bone marrow biopsy.

This time though, it went exactly as it should be – proper anaesthesia, only the pain of the local in the back of my left hand, and then waking up in the recovery area with it all done and a plaster over my lower back, off to the side.

And because it wasn't a full General, was able to have the obligatory tuna sandwich, bowl of leek soup, fruit salad and orange juice, and a kip, then head down to meet Hawksey two hours afterwards, who was just arriving on the 93 bus to pick me up and drive me back in my car.

Except he looked traumatised – had just got off the bus and realised he'd left his laptop on the seat. (This is why you should always check where you've been sitting before you get off…)

Had to rush to the car park, leap into the Mojo wagon and chase not just one but two 93 busses past Tibbetts Corner, down Putney Hill (they have an advantage – long bus lanes) and all the way to Putney Station. H legged it to the back bus with his best 'can I have my bag back please' face on, and emerged with one black laptop case in hand, very relieved that no-one had nicked if in the meantime.

At this point I remembered that I wasn't meant to be driving post-procedure, but it was a bit late by then….

Popped home, then gave Scrumpy her second walk of the day on the Common. Very relieved the BMB is done and dusted and hoping that Prof won't be wanting one every 6 months as he suggested. Will see what the scores from this one are next week…. x
