Nipped down to the first of the Pig hotels in Brockenhurst on Sunday, for a spot of pre birthday piggery.
Delicious seafood lunch in Leamington, where we used to keep our boat, then a quick brisk walk at the back – the hubby and I even shared a Mr Whippy, it was that warm.
Checked in – always good to be in a Pig, warm, inviting, dirty wellies, cows mooing, not too poncy, five bottles of nice ponging Bamford stuff to nick from the bathroom always a bonus.
Then embedded ourselves in the bar at the hotel, and thence into dinner. Delighted to see the infamous 'Bath Chap' (yes, chap, not chop) back on the menu. Basically half a pig head with an incredibly crispy crackling cheek. Lard indeed.
Perfect crisp October weather, so sat outside by the fire till late, working my way through the cocktail menu while Mr H battered their cognac supplies.
Here's to trying the next Pig – they've opened one at Combe and that is definitely on the 2018 radar. Oink! x
