Just back from a weekend in Manchestaaaaaa with David and Mandy, mostly chosen for a posh dinner booking at Manchester House restaurant, where they’d been a few months back.
Initial ‘interesting’ start as we hunted for our Airbnb, which turned out to be opposite a very shabby looking pub called the Rovers Return, apparently ‘run by a villain’ according to our host. The fact the apartment had electric security shutters over the external door and razor wire on the side wall didn’t seem a great start, but luckily it was brand new, nicely decorated and none of the local crims came visiting.
Had a skinful of very good cocktails to try and rival the boys on the wine flight with each of the 12 courses on the tasting menu of our posh dinner. Good job we’d got bacon butties in for the following morning..
Pleasing to find a huge Mojo illumination outside the restaurant, but did make me feel guilty that she was home alone with her food spinner..
Went by bus through some right dodgy Manx suburbs en route to watch Sale Sharks absolutely whip Worcester 58-25 at rugby.
The boys are here with the Sale mascot but as you can’t see its dorsal fin at this angle, it does look more like a pirate sheep or snake with a big head…
Had a great cheap and very cheerful Mexican last night in a cool little parade of independent bars and nosh houses, with very friendly service and 2 jugs of margaritas.. topped off with a quick drink and some people watching on Canal St before we crawled off home.
Managed to squeeze in a quick but good lunch with Lyds on our way back, great to see her as it’s been aaaaaaages. A very good early birthday celebration for Mr H whose actual b’day is tomorrow.
Heading home now to sort our house out as we have some plans underway…. check out the previous post! X
