I Like To Move It, Move It..,.

Bloody hell, if all goes as planned tomorrow and we exchange as expected, we only have 4 more nights left to sleep at Stroud Road.

We are moving out this Thursday (7th), completing on the Friday on our sale, spending the weekend camping at Janine & Ross’s and then moving into the new house on Mon 11th June.

Eek, Eek, Eek!

Met the current owners yesterday – nice slightly older Polish couple. Man is a builder and showed us a few things we had no idea that the house had, from a couple of secret cupboards, to hidden garden lights, a built in water softener, CCTV and some thrilling piping that I think H was more interested in than I was. The lady was showing me round the kitchen, including some odd thing you could full with water, or wood chips… Not sure what the hell it was but I didn’t have the heart to tell her it was my least favourite bit of the whole house and will be ripped out as soon as H’s knee recovers from his end June knee op…..

We’ve got some very busy weeks ahead…. I think I’ve been in our present house for about 24 years, pretty much half my life, so it’s probably time I winkled myself out and we had a fresh challenge. But it will still be a very odd feeling when we shut the door here for the last time and walk away. And god know how many times I will come the usual way out of the tube and be half way back here before I remember we now live somewhere else…

Exciting, scary and a bit daunting in terms of needing to get the new pad as ‘us’ as Stroud Rd is now, over the coming year or two. But looking forward to the great terrace and a couple of much needed large G&Ts sitting out there and looking over actual grass, way hey, once we are in and have tackled the first batch of boxes.

Here’s to the new Hawkes era at 22 Dora Rd, Wimbledon SW19 7HH.. Kettle’s on, any time.
