Well, technically it was the Crystal River, north of Tampa, but who cares? The second half of Florida week was set off to a 'tee' for me, by the trip to swim with manatees.
And here is one of the gorgeous, floppy hoover-nosed, 13 foot long beasties. Much more interested in chewing the plant life and bobbing to the surface for a humid breath every 4-7 minutes, than in worrying about us.
Happy days – its been YEARS that I've wanted to see one of these, and when it floated up into me I even got a surreptitious touch of its back.
