Somehow the 19th Oct is actually here, which means Mr H and I are heading off to the airport this afternoon, for the start of the Big Birthday Trip.
Fly to Tokyo today, for 3 nights there plus a bullet train trip and overnight (with mega Japanese dinner) in Kyoto.
Then next Wed it’s a further 9 hour flight into the west side of the South Pacific. Heading for Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia. Where we meet Janine and Ross, who are routing via Melbourne. And where we pick up our catamaran and then head off into the deep blue for 2 weeks of island hopping, snorkelling and praying that Ross catches a giant tuna to feed us. Or we will be opening the tins of not so delicious corned beef and beans, currently nestling in our luggage..
Had a fab early birthday present last night – new Lumix camera to take the trip snaps. Will post those on our return, hopefully with a few en route, if we find any WiFi on land.
Sad that we can’t take Mojo and Scrumpy with us (cheers Jules and Nicky for taking the cat pussy), and hoping that Scrumpy will settle at the kennels ok, as she is keeping Flossy company in a double kennel there. Won’t be missing Parkside for the next 3 weeks though, byeeeeeeee!
So chuffed that it looks like a year of planning and hoping that all would be well enough to go, is about to unfold. If you’ve got to turn 50, doing it somewhere turquoise with turtles, the hubby and top chums, on white sand, has to be the way.
Feeling very lucky and excited – fingers crossed it all goes as hoped and the absolute other side of the world does us proud. Back 10 Nov, whoopee! X
