H hosts an annual 'Gentlemen's Dinner' which this year gave rise to the need to head off to Billingsgate Market at gnat's crack, to buy a pile of seafood for that evening's event.
First point of note – how lovely it is driving through London when there's no traffic. All dark and feeling quite Christmassy..
Second point – who the hell puts a traffic light in the middle of a Christmas lights display – of red and green lights?? No wonder it took a while to get into the car park – which light to follow?
Third point – why do they still charge £2.50 cash to park, even at 6am? Time for a spot of Ringo I suspect..
Anyway – as ever, fish and seafood a plenty when you get in there. And such bargains – we even bought some prawns, skate wings etc to freeze for the 'eat healthier in January' gig, as they are incredibly good value.
And of course, the finished platter went down well, followed apparently by beef wellington. And a whole bottle of cinnamon vodka (urgh) among other alcoholic delights.
I spent the night at the cottage, watching the Strictly final and eating roast lamb – much nicer! x
