Just back from fab weekend with the lovely Barnes Boys, James and Dominic, at their country cottage in very cute Midhurst.
Very glad we made it this time, having had to cancel at zero notice on the evening H got his unexpected diagnosis on 30 Nov. The boys had just paid at the supermarket, and then we had to call – not a great moment to say the least.
So nothing better this time than two fresh countryside walks, a roaring fire, endless chat, comfy sofas, great food and some top notch vino (apparently) and a happy dog snoring upside down throughout.
Plus a visit to a tiny Sussex gin distillery – bonus! So small I had to nip into the woods for a wee as they don't even have a customer toilet, ah the glamour.
I'll spare you the photo of me this morning. trotting down the little high street in my slippers with an all-too transparent bag of dog poo, right past the vicar as the church bells were tolling, looking for a litter bin. Sorry, no new punters this morning…
Thanks to our hosts, we are definitely booking back in for a summer holiday when the local ice cream shop is also in full swing. x
