Met up with the lovely Davina & Guy, and James & Dominic, at Jules' sushi gaff in Mercato Metropolitano last night. Guy sporting facial bruises from a bike fall and Dominic with a ripped shoulder from slipping on the ice on their recent trip to north Sweden – so drinks were definitely required to oil the wheels.
Also managed to eat our way round various different fooderies (including the yellow egg edged sushi below, specifically created for International Women's Day) before J&D – somewhat madly – headed off to drive down to their cottage in Midhurst, so they could have the weekend treat of waking up there on Saturday morning, ready for their favourite rye bread breakfast from the local bakers..
We, more traditionally, got in around midnight, and as soon as I have posted this, it's off to Waitrose to get some soaking up brek for us too – no bloody kitchen at the moment (house full of builders and floorers!) so the much needed bacon sandwich will have to wait another week or two..
