COYS!

Yep – it took me a while to work out this means 'Come On You Spurs'. But having been invited by my chum Nicky to watch the Champions League semi vs Ajax at the new stadium this Tues, with Soph & Mel too, it soon became obvious, when you hear it being shouted by 60,000 Spurs fans..

Very swanky brand new stadium – made all the better by Nicky having an 'access all areas' staff pass, so we got to go on the quirky bridge that links the commercial building to the stadium, and in and out of various floors where the great and good paying £30k a year for a season ticket were noshing pre-match.

In so doing, we managed to pass Pat Jennings (still with his 1980s haircut, allegedly do he is still recognised;le and call pull women – yuk), Ozzie Ardiles plus Emmanuel Kipchoge the marathon winner who was randomly being shown around and even Mark Foster the Olympic swimmer – though he was in the same queue as us for a chicken supper. Poor guy is SO tall you just can't miss him..

And still a bit 'ew' that one of the main shout outs for the fans is 'YID ARMY" over and over again. I'm not very PC generally but that one just feels a bit skin crawly. If it was the opposing fans, you wouldn't;t put up with it for a nano second, but that's football for you.

Shame that Spurs lost 0-1, and that its a 35 minute fast walk afterwards all the way back to Seven Sisters tube! Just the 13,700 steps that day.. But very good to see where poor Nicky has to commute to daily and the very shiny new ground.
