Make the most of this post because the next one isn’t quite as good!
Had a cool trip to an alternative volcano off Rotorua, White Island clearly off bounds (although Volcanic Air said that apparently people are still asking if they can go there, wtf?). Just us in the chopper, because we are large peeps, so for once that was a bonus. Touched down on a volcano top and then by some colourful and bubbling hot pools, all active and not as eggy as expected.
and then tried the Maori experience, pretty touristy but did at least get to see our first kiwi, in the dark, and to watch ah doing the Haka on a stage, I am however threatened with violence if i put photo evidence of the full tongue sticking out and eye rolling on here.
then headed to Auckland which isn’t the most thrilling city, although has a buzzy harbourfront. So nipped over time Waiheke island for the day, much nicer, cool shops, great ice cream (the first all hols!) and lovely long beaches to amble along collecting scallop shells.
all sounds pretty perfect hey, but unfortunately things have gone a bit wrong….
