“Poohs’ and Mega Zooms

Well that's a bit of a weird title but it sums up yet another weird week in sunny lockdown.

Hawksey has mostly been outside – putting his new green fingered toy to use. Not really a Neptune fork but in reality a hollowtine. This, it transpires, is a thoroughly masochistic bit of gardening kit, requiring you (well, him, obvs) to stand on it about a thousand times, each time causing 4 tubes of soil to travel up through the tines and be deposited in the garden. The aim – to provide better drainage so the lower garden isn't such swamp next winter. The result – about 4,000 small 'poohs' all over the lawn and 3 impressive blisters on his lordship's dainty palms.

Only problem, it does become quite tricky to spot the actual Scrumpy poohs from the thousands of looky-likey poohs… Here just a small selection of the very many he had to sweep up afterwards, while I offered 'you've missed some' from the reclining chair on the terrace. Upstairs, downstairs at its finest.

And my week has been putting Zoom to the test – trying out not just one but two mega Zooms. One for my hockey team, the Aces – where we racked up 16 of us for Friday's natter.

Highly entertaining, especially the bit where George put on a curly wig to look like Hatch in the adjacent Zoom square..

Reminded me of the Brady Bunch opening credits ' 'it's a story, of a man named Brady….' – even they didn't quite have 16 under one roof.

And then last night was Michelle King's 50th birthday zoom – very well orchestrated by Liz T & Sarah T, first of all getting a surprise bunch of us in her road, both in person and on people's phones, to sing her Happy Birthday and drop off gifts at lunchtime, including a phonebook of lots of MK's travels with us over the years – cue doorstep tears of delight! Then all – and a few more – signing back in at 8.15pm for the surprise mega Zoom. Had a world-beating 17 of us on here at one point, but here again is the 4 x 4 grid of ex-AVers, raising a birthday glass and all doing our best to make Michelle's 50th a brighter place. Cheers!!

Remarkable that you can actually had a sort of 'conversation' with that many people, on both calls, although it does require quite a lot of inane grinning while you keep silent, trying to work out which box is speaking at any one time…

Happy Hump Day Wednesday folks, let's see what Boris has to say about all this tomorrow eve. x
