So, having filled out the Govt's online survey about yes, being in the Vulnerable group, but no, all good thank you – and also having had a phone call from a young enthusiastic person about whether I needed anything, I was feeling like the government had actually done quite well in following up and checking in.
But of course I still didn't need anything, as friends are being so brilliant with picking up food for us and magically appearing with the odd bit of cake too.
So imagine my surprise when the bell rang this week. I headed for the door, expecting the usual Amazon package, to open it, bin the cardboard, wash the hands routine – but no.
Looking down on my doorstep, I could see a large open flat grocery box. Clearly not for me, I thought! Must be a farm shop delivery for some neighbour, so I picked up the bit of accompanying paper to see whose house it needed to be carried across to.
But it DID seem to have my name on it.
And it turned out that somehow I have been mis-allocated a food box for the needy Vulnerable!
On the one hand very sweet that the Govt is trying to do its best by people who really need it – and obviously immediately made me feel guilty that I must have filled out the online form wrongly. Which I have now done again in case it was my slip of the finger..
And on the other hand, quite interesting to see what they send out… maybe not the most balanced meal but enough to keep the wolf from the door.
Anyway – we've got a few bits for the food bank as it really should go to people who need it more than us, if anyone is passing..
Scrumpy however, has baggsied the carrots already x
