And All Of A Sudden..

…somehow, it was already June.

Stunning weather, hot days – oh to be by an infinity pool, looking over some beautiful watery view… Ah well, in the absence of any possibility of that we are making do – pretty well to be fair – with Dora Road, the garden and a few trips out to Richmond Park still.

Today, however, did NOT start well. Despite my friendly hand-written note sellotaped to the front door, asking for No Food Delivery, yep – the bloody box magically appeared for the 4th time this morning when I was in the shower. Grr!!!!!!! Yet again I have 'updated' (put the same again) on the Government website, as of course there is no phone number to call – and I wouldn't like to put money on whether another bleddy box will be gracing the doormat again next Tuesday..

Still, we cracked on with fitness with David oop north, with Jules as well, and then a bit of food prep for 2 guests over tonight. Pushing that lockdown relaxation boat slightly out – and very carefully.

Did rather enjoy Friday's 'a bit different' evening of not only a takeaway chinese – crazy hey? – but also the Take That session online, including Robbie. And you have to admit both Robbie & Gary are still incredibly good at their thing – middle aged men, but worth both listening to – and looking at, nothing wrong with a bit of weekend eye candy.

And it was so hot that we even allowed Small People into the garden, providing they stayed semi-attached to the paddling pool. Emmy knew EXACTLY what she was doing when she sprayed Hawksey from head to toe with the hose… Gorgeous little minx.

And there are few better moments for me than having both the furry girls choosing to come and sit on me at the same time. Scrumpy as ever, somewhat less than impressed that Mojo had managed to get into the remaining bit of space around my neck, but both of them settling down for some concerted stroking. Just love it..

And most importantly, this week was also the one year anniversary of losing Mum. Hard to believe that a full year has gone by, with the only tiny upside being that she didn't have to go through this virus palaver, when she would have forgotten each day the reason why no-one had been to see her. I still miss her terribly, and say hello to her photo at the top of the stairs every day.

Mr H & I were really pleased that the cemetery was open this week, so we could go and tend Mum's grave and put some new flowers down at last. It was only on the way back that he cast his mind back the 35 long years since he lost his own mother, and had the strangest of realisations.

Hawksey's Mum also died on the 28th May. Of all the days… now that is a very bizarre, but kind of nice, coincidence.

So a new Mother's Day has just been created. Here's to 28th May next year, when hopefully we can go to Dorset and visit his Mum too x
