Blimey, I seem to have slid so far into lockdown that I haven't updated on here in aaaaages! Luckily, there has clearly been not a whole fat lot going on, so here comes the latest little batch of pics from our somewhat reduced lifestyles.
Actually, its been pretty much ok, if not actually fairly good. Apart from last week when the rain came and either brought with it, or just coincided with, lockdown feeling a bit restrictive and frustrating. Or maybe it was because – having already missed 2 foreign jaunts – I was due to be heading our for my annual USA holiday, shopping, bars, casinos, teepees and canyons this time – and of course was instead going nowhere fast. Pooooo…
But it's given us the opportunity to get out and enjoy a bit of nature – including an influx of herons (or 'herrings' as we like to call them) both in Beverley Brook in Richmond Park, and here at the other end of the brook off the golf course on Wimbledon Common. Luckily Scrumpy was too busy chasing her ball to be bothered to look up..
Mojo too has been getting close to nature – here nestling happily in Mr H's 'growing my green babies to go in the garden' tray – only now, after 3 months, has that bleddy table finally been folded down in the white space. Of course though, it is still leaning, unwashed and unwiped against the wall there where it has now been for 10 days, as Mr H hasn't quite hefted it back up to the loft. Bets for how many more weeks/months it will remain in residence? Sigh..
At least we are now able to see a few people – whisking them through the house and straight out to the sanitised garden table and chairs. A right joy after all these weeks of waving at a distance and driveway distanced cuppas….
So we had Tony & Karen Franco plus Lia and the new little furry addition – Stanley the puppy – coming for an early eve drink this week. Little Stanley of course started at Scrumpy's head end with a bit of romantic kissing before progressing rather rapidly to the other end, for god knows what.. A very nice overdue catch up, making the most of giving Lia a couple of large vodka & diet cokes as per her student preferences!
And possibly the most exciting of all, we headed down to Climping Beach for our first view of the sea this summer – SUCH a delight. Scrumpy was deliriously happy, yomping in the waves and trying to encourage any small children who were digging holes in the sand to instead entertain her in the sea. Nice and sunny and with a bit of imagination and a squint, the water even looked almost turquoise..
Bring on a few more beach days I say… hopefully will nip down again this week when the weather goes batshit, which probably means it'll be a 'bit' busier at the coast. We will give it a crack anyway – picnic anyone?? x
