Popped over to Nurse & Sophia's yesterday for Jasper's first birthday 'party' – luckily an event that had no other kids at it except his older sister. Still not fully comfy being near kids who are back at school now.. but anyway, Godfather Hawksey was in his element, trying not to totally break the trampoline with the birthday boy.
And Jasper even put on his best performance by walking unaided for the first time as we were all watching him in the garden – whoops of delight from John, though Sophia missed it as she was putting out a spot of lunch… Here he is practising with his ladybird walker, before the big 'look I can do it on my own' moment..
Most memorable moment was definitely Jasper getting his 'first ever' bit of sugar in his slice of birthday cake. Not quite 'first ever' according to Mr H who has sneakily been giving him bits of pain au raisin apparently when they go out for coffee together but it was certainly the largest bit he had ever had. My how those little eyes enlarged as you could see the thought 'this stuff is GREAT! Why haven't I had this before' going through his little head.. Not sure he was going to be ready for bed any time soon after that.
High fives all round for the very clever walking – and cake guzzling.
