Cooking in Lockdown

So – you know that I tend to be a bit organised, right? So for the last 10 months – on it goes – I have created a weekly list of meals, lunch and dinner, 14 slots a week. And tallied those to a weekly Waitrose shopping list, so we can pick up the goodies every Monday morning from our local W.

Which then cues the question every morning – what are we eating today? And a quick check into my Notes page to reveal the daily delights. Yes, in the absence of much else to talk about, food has definitely shot high up the list of everyday topics. Am I'm sure its not just in our house.

It does always amaze me when people say 'oh we just eat the same thing every week – Friday is fish night..' etc. With the wonder of the BBC Good Food website plus our top cookbooks – the Book of Nom and Tom Kerridge – there is at least a world of options to choose form, and no reason to go back to the same thing unless they truly are favourites.

Cue my effort last Friday to try out another recipe, this time 'individual lasagne bowls'. Sounded a bit less faff than a full on lasagne as you don't have to make the white sauce, and as H was on a boys' call, it fell to me to make the dinner (I'm usually more of a lunches gal). Here's what I was aiming for:

Long story short…

They didn't quite come out like the picture here.

Even when I dotted the salad round the edges, it wasn't;t quite the similar match I had been hoping for

Luckily they still tasted quite good..

Cheese on top of anything usually helps…

And Mr H eventually stopped laughing..

And I (eventually) started to..

Ladies and gentlemen I reveal to you:
