Blimey – none us thought we'd still be embroiled in COVID a whole year on… well, I certainly didn't think its spectre would be quite so omnipresent still.
Can't quite believe that I got the 'you've been doing Duo non stop for a whole year' email from Duolingo – something I only started back in March 2020 because Hawksey claimed he was going to be (finally) learning French under lockdown. Hence I got on the Duo bandwagon to pick up my Spanish – obviously H dropped his linguistic efforts within days, and girly swot Scotty has somehow knocked out a half hour or so of Duo every day for a whole year now.
And – no sign of the time being quite right as yet to stop. As soon as life is fully back on track, I'll be booking those Sleazyjet tickets to ANYWHERE in Spain, to practice my 'large gin please, and don't stop free pouring it' very important phrases in person…
I do at least know now that an owl (the Duolingo logo mascot thing) is 'un buho'. Well worth a year of practising.. x
