Stunningly hot day for 6 of us to rent a little boat at Walton, to potter up and down the river with Paul & Sarah T and Clare & Andy B. Both Andy & Paul share the same birthday (though are ten years apart in age!) so it was the perfect excuse to pack the picnic hampers and head onto the water.
Luckily I'd bought a couple of classy hats for the birthday boys to keep the sun off – Old Sea Dog and Drunken Sailor seemed quite apt somehow..
Had to hide in the shade for our bucks fizz and bakery bits brekky – man that sun was hot even first thing..
Then tootled off to Hampton Court for lunch – boys on the beers – and then up and down through the various locks, stopping for another pint (and a wee!) at another waterside hostelry en route. All v civilised, and such a treat.
Popped back to S&P's for the eve to try out their new hot tub (oh yessss….) and H & Paul got stuck into some more booze while Sarah prepped her usual super supper. Which I think Mr H somewhat regretted the next day as he was packing for his week in Cornwall, not sure that searching the loft for wet suits and body boards was quite what his hangover was keen on, tee hee…
A v nice day all round for nattering, playing on the water and making the most of it till the heavens opened that night and winter was back!
