Had Tim & Mel over for Sunday lunch this weekend – and Mr H knocked out a fine selection of vegan offerings. 'Cambodian Wedding something or other', involving a lot of minced mushrooms, was the winner. Closely followed by the broccoli salad, patatas bravas and aubergine boats.
They do now eat vegetarian when out (brought on by a slightly miserable week's holiday in Wales, when the only vegan offerings were sludge burgers or a can of tomato on rice, billed as 'jambalaya'!) but we managed to do the full vegan delight. Well, apart from a small tub of grated cheese left over from another night, that I snuck onto my plate…
They have also made a concession at home to now eat eggs. Tim having told the story of 'I caught Mel in the supermarket aisle, eyeing up the eggs'. So now buy 12 one week and 18 the next week from a local organic supplier with happy hens – seems they are making up for lost time!!
We padded up to the Village – which now has 5 delis in it, slight overkill – although that sadly doesn't seem to have encouraged any of them to price themselves more keenly. Came home with an £8 chorizo and a nice pint in the sun from the Dog & Fox on board. You can def tell those two are brothers, hey?
Good to catch up – next time will be at Tim's songs wedding in 4 weeks' time. Yes, finally Reeve & Kerry-Anne will be getting married, having cancelled the date 3 times due to COVID, it's now getting close enough that we are starting the think it will actually happen. Famous last words, I hope not – fingers crossed for their Big Day.
