Cornwall Week 2

In a good way, week 2 in Cornwall heralded a change of guests, with us welcoming David & Mandy down from Yorkshire after an epic 9 hour drive. It's a bleddy long way from oop north down tut south west..

Some things stayed the same – such as squeezing back into the wetsuits and heading down to the beach for a 'blow away the long drive' surf afternoon. SO much easier when wearing the little surf fins, although I did get snotted twice when off balance and some sneaky big waves whopped me from behind..

Also spent time on the vast open and practically empty beaches (the joys of September) with the doggies, putting the windbreak to good use – what a top purchase that proved to be! With Scrumpy making very sure there was more sand on top of the picnic blanket than under it…

And we obviously made the most of the fabulous house – very very lucky to have been staying there the past 2 weeks. Our room was the top left one – cracking views across St Enodoc golf course, right down the Damber Bay and with the benefit of great sunsets every night.

All this in between being dragged up and down the local cliff top walks – no seals to be spotted this week, but did score a good ice cream, so a fair enough swap. Although that is definitely the worst pineapple on my head I think I have ever allowed to be captured on film – can't quite believe I am even sharing it here. Eek, utter hair shocker.

Managed to get our asses back on our bikes for a second time – got to make it worth dragging the damn things down here – by pedalling off to Padstein again, where D&M celebrated by buying a rather nice painting. Plus pasties all round, obvs, because its the rule and you can't leave town without one.

And we also rang the changes with a fairly 'non-Cornwall-y' visit to a sculpture studio where we somehow cobbled together 4 sculpture heads by the end of our 2 hours. Scrumpy almost ruined the entire thing by sneaking up the open sided basic wooden stairs (imaging a rickety barn style studio) and walking out on the flimsy plastic covering above our heads. Apparently a few weeks before a slightly larger labrador had dome the same and ripped its way right through, landing on everyone..) We were slightly offended when we asked a couple of chums on WhatsApp who had made each one, to find that people thought they were all self-portraits and that somehow the large lipped head with spear earrings, a huge facial scar, giant man ears and a fish in its gob was, by a process of exclusion, therefore me!?
