Fi & Rich very kindly invited us to join them for a day out at the races – so of course, off we went!

I haven’t seen Mr H resplendent in a suit since he stopped work, but was very impressed that he brushed up so well (as well he might do having splashed for a new whistle on Jermyn Street, his others being too large for him these days). And obvs we girls looked perfect too…

Our hosts knocked up a cracking pre-race picnic, ranging from Fi’s salmon roulade to Rich’s spicy lamb moooo, eaten as per tradition, in the car park by Goodwood. And then we were off….
Each of us placed bets on about 5 races, and I tried my usual approach of going for 2 horses to hedge my bets in each one. Fi’s racing expert brother Goose had supplied some tips from himself and also the racing editor of The Times so we sat back and waited for the £££ to roll in, and won….
NOT A PENNY BETWEEN US!!!!!

It’s a good job it was sunny and a lovely day out (despite the high presence of trout pouts, tattoos and laaaaaads) – and we ended it back at The Pools, ready to try out their latest new toy – the wood-fired hot tub!!! Perfectly placed at the top of the field with an amazing view down their land – with a handy little set of glass holders for our G&Ts.

Now that’s somewhere I can see myself hanging out again – many times, hopefully! x
