It's weird, H first mentioned the idea of going off on Ash's boat for 2 month back at the end of last year. At which point of course it all seemed like a very long way off. And there were lots of things that would need to fall into place for it to happen, so who knew what might or might not actually come to pass.
Well, yesterday, I dropped hubby at the tube with various massive sailing bags, nav books, solar chargers, binoculars, music boxes, downloaded films, charts, cap clips and a pile of other boaty stuff and then – he was off!
So the plan is that he, Ashley & Banners will sail from Antibes in the next day or so, heading for Corsica. Where Nicky & I will join them via Ajaccio, Banners heading back at that point. We'll then pottle down the west of Corsica then across the north of Sardinia and down its nicer east coast. Taking about 8 days to get there – hopefully at a reasonable pace as bloody Easyjet has cancelled our return flights back and we now have one day less to reach the airport..
Nice that I had a family meal planned last night to lessen the Dora Road silence – went over to Jess's in Eltham and tootled with her and Richard, plus Nancy and Scrumpy dogs, to go and collect Violet (V-Dog as Rick is calling her) from nursery. She seemed to have grown about a foot since we last saw her in January!
Violet perked up immensely when Frozen 2 was put on (a bit like Rick and Jess's hubby Pat when the Liverpool match went on later) and had a nice sprawl with the Scrump Dog. Though was a tad confused that there was suddenly 'Grandad Scotty' (also known as Grandad Baldy, to my great delight) plus now 'Sister Scotty' and also Scotty the dog – Scrumpy seems to be a bit hard to say..
Scrumpy still a bit sad having seen bags being packed and Daddy disappearing into the station – good job Mummy's is usually the hand that feeds her!
So, it's going to be a funny 2 months while H is away – he returns for 1 weekend at the end of May then its a whole month till the final return, all being well.
V pleased that hopefully Miami week will be happening in June, but still very up for dog walks, suppers and anything at all really – its been a while since I 'sailed solo'! x
