Jubilee weekend

Well you've got to love a 4 day weekend – started off down at the coot for a spot of pre-Miami planning with J. Both fo us desperately hoping that 'third year lucky' is in the offing…

Had a potter into Horsham to check out the Jubilee festivities – where the postbox here was probably the highlight!

Clare & Andy then appeared, for a good walk pre a pub lunch, although SO hard not having Scrumpy with us – Smudge's flashes of white and black as he ran around kept bringing Scrumpy to my mind – not that she's every out of it still – so its never going to be easy walking dogs.

Then a trip to Chichester Theatre Sat eve – saw The Unfriend which had every possibility of being utterly dreadful middle class middled aged tosh, but given our very low expectations was actually better than expected. Although Ross did nearly run over Reece Shearsmith the main actor in the car park beforehand, so it def would have been worse if he'd got him!

Legged it home on Sunday for the Dora Road Jubilee Party – so nice to see the road clear of cars and the sky miraculously clear of rain for the duration. Bloody miracle given the 2 raindrops forecast, that made the black cloud seem like a delightful day! This pic was taken early – there were prob ablaut 150 people there I would guess? A v good turn out.

Finally met Helen Davies' two chums that she also knows who live in Dora – its only taken 4 years to cross paths. But once Jackie had popped in for 2 gin & tonics and a wee (she lives at the bottom of the road and the party section was up our way) we were already chums. Thence followed ping ping, Bake off, singing, kids face painting, chalking the road with union jacks, prize for the best decorated house (hardly going to be ours, though paper pennants and print offs were on show) and general eating, drinking and mingling with our name tags and house numbers on.

Vast over-catering as always happens at these gigs and a flurry of 'who's got my trestle table / white handle cake slice / plastic wine glass' etc WhatsApps then followed what was a v good afternoon, complete with renditions from the Dora Roarers and mini band.

Now that would never have happened in Stroud Road…

All in all a v nice long weekend and one day the sun might even deign to shine again.. x
