After we lost Scrumpy in May, the house was terribly quiet and a bit of a sad place. So we started thinking about maybe getting another dog maybe to fill the void that we were both feeling so acutely with no beloved Springer in our home. While nothing could ever replace Scrumpy, the love and fun that she gave us is something that we would always miss, so we both felt that another dog was the right was forward for us.
And we came across the details of a breeder in Reading (thank god not Scotland, Cornwall or Yorkshire as most seem to be!) whose dog Meg had just a little girl in a litter that sounded right up our alley. Female, black & white and obvs another Springer.
While H was away on the boat for his 9 week sojourn I went along to check her out in June – and of course was instantly beguiled.
I zoomed H in on the phone so he could see her too and it was a done deal.
As soon as he was back, we popped along for a second visit and the puppy was putty in his hands – instantly relaxed and lying back, my how we were fooled by that placid moment!!
As soon as H could he was back up the road to Reading and brought our new little family member home on Sunday, so she was here when I got back from Italy last night. A total cutey though we have a long way to go before she is trained and easy to handle! The new toxic niff of puppy pee throughout the house is a reminder of just how long toilet training can take. Hopefully she'll get the hang of it soon – at the moment, every time you bend down to stroke her, she pees with delight!
We were up 3 times in the night taking her out for wees and then it was def end of sleep time by 6.30am – guess we are going to be a bit bleary for the weeks to come…
But here we are – a family of four again with not just Mojo but now Maddie as well. Long legs, giant paws – she's going to be a boisterous biffer!
