Norfolk with David & Mands

Had a fab four nights away with Dav & Mands in Letheringsett in North Norfolk last week. Luckily, the weather turned from the back end of Storm Amy as we arrived on Fri afternoon – blustery, whippy winds and lots of crispy leaves shooting in the door as we unloaded our cars – to a sunny delight!

Rented a very nice AirBnB, five minutes’ drive from Holt, which turned out to be a really lovely town – with excellent shops for Mands & me to wander round, while the boys caught up over a dog walk.

Mands here sporting her newly purchased ‘sheep gloves’ ready for the Harrogate winter chills…

Did several great beach walks – one at Wells-Next-The-Sea and one from East Runton to Cromer, all in fabulous unexpected October sunshine. I was even down to a t-shirt for most of it, dragging my hoodie and puffa behind me…

Ended up on our last night doing a pottery class (once we extracted ourselves from being stuck behind an unloading ambulance on a one-track road).. 8 people being loosely led by a lady potter, trying to make 2 items each. We finished the first ones with all of ten minutes to go, so everyone hung on to knock out a 2nd ‘thing’ – mostly bowls, though Mands did seem to have created more of a candlestick in round 1!

Not that I fared too well – my smugly-produced, nicely rounded bowl met its end as I stopped the turntable-thingy waaaay too quickly and it ground to a sudden halt, splitting as it lurched from spinning to stationary. Pooooo!

All in all, a v good 4 days, though D&M only just made it to the grandsons’ school pick up on their way home – a 6 hour journey back!!!

Maybe next time we won’t try and meet halfway – it seemed a good idea at the time but we could have got all the way north, or them to the south, in pretty much the same amount of time as its takes to go east! x
