Girls’ Trip to Wiltshire

Janine & I decided to have a random girls’ night away last week, this time to what turned out to be a perfectly sunny Wiltshire!

We booked Bishopstrow Hotel in Warminster, as it had a decent spa / treatments / dinner / bottle of booze / breakfast – and of course a room – offer on. Turned out it was a bit further away than we’d thought but gave us an excuse to potter around Salisbury on our way down. The upside there – really interesting varied architecture and old buildings (god, I sound like a right old git), the downside it was a bit rundown in parts and the shops were a tad iffy! Did manage to snaffle a Giggling Squid lunch so that’s always a bonus – and these days, to have a decent lunch for a mere £15 each is practically impossible!

On from there to the hotel. Overall it was great – decent margaritas and the dinner waaaaay surpassed expectations. It was probably one of there best I’ve ever had in a hotel, yup that good. The 1hr 15 treatment was really well done by a nice girl and half the spa facilities – sauna, steam room, treatment rooms, relaxation area etc – were decent. The pools – indoor and out – are clearly the next ones to go on the major refurb list though…

The next morning was a stunner, so we toddled off to a random Iron Age ruined castle thingy at Old Sarum – great views and walking up to it and around surely burned off at least 5% of the calories I consumed for breakfast?

Then homewards, so I could be back in time for my fortnightly afternoon visit to my old lady Jo – who was poised with her list of the pairings on Married at First Sight for us to discuss in detail. It’s quite hard keeping up with a programme that runs 1.5hrs every night – I now have my morning cuppa on the sofa with the TV on fast forward, making sure I’ve got enough juicy bits to pore over with her….

A v good girls’ night away – what else to do on a Mon night in October??
