Made the most of the incredibly hot weather (too hot?!) this week and headed off to Queens Tennis in Baron's Court for the male tennis players week. Well, there's got to be some nice legs and torsos to look at as well as the tennis (said the creepy old cougar…)
Liz T organised it and this year we were a foursome of me, Liz, Janine & Michelle K. All sweltering like buggery in the unrelenting sunshine, and having to duck for cover every few games as we were starting to cook in our plastic seats…
A very good day for GB tennis players, as we say Dan Evans beat Monfils who is much higher up the rankings than he is, Norrie and Fearnley. Plus Rune. And I think one other match but I got so hot I think I've forgotten who it was! No Draper that day but he did do really well overall.
And then it was a quick 1 night trip down to Fi & Rich's place for a beer-making day. Yes, to add to the ongoing cider haul…. Based on the course that H, Rich & Fi did a couple of month's ago, they got all the ingredients to make a batch of Harvey's Best Bitter. A bit of Hubble, bubble, toil & troubler later and – boom – the tank was full and now has to sit for a week or so before being bottled. And then of course consumed!!
Fi & I mostly let the boys to it as we were busy watering her enormous veg garden and huge greenhouse. And then pulling up about 30 large beetroot to lay in a box of sand, with sand between each one – as apparently this will preserve them all winter! Very satisfying hauling fresh veg up by its leaves, and very nice to have a couple of roasted ones with a cracking caesar salad, of course made with some of the giant garden lettuce too. All very Good Life-esque…. x
