It's been a knackering week! Cathy and the two smallest nieces arrived last Sunday and promptly proceeded to denude London, and especially Primark, of all its shopping opportunities. The hall has 8 pairs of new trainers alone in it, not to mention the piles of new joggers, pyjamas, t-shirts, socks etc etc. Eeek – who said consumerism was dead?
(For some reason, today I can't rotate photos so forgive some on their sides / upside down!)
Nieces also v delighted to meet Maddie and have been very good at playing with her. Maddie sadly has not on her best form, off her food and is very tired, involving a late night vet visit, but hopefully now on the mend (although they haven't really got a clue why she's off colour…)
Also had various members of the family over yesterday in two batches. Firstly Heather with niece No.1 Jess, plus her two mini girls Lettie & Polly. Poor Richard had succumbed to a foul D&V bug, so couldn't get this far in the car.. Anyway, nice ploughmans lunch then some tree climbing on the common to try and persuade Polly to sleep. She clearly has early FOMO so was resolute in her awakeness!
Spot of afternoon tea back at Dora – Cathy's cake mountain coming in very handy – and they were off, only to be replaced by cousin Adrian and his daughter Scarlett, amazingly appearing an hour early (when we are far more used to him being an hour at least late!) Plus Abbie & Nick – a good showing from the family to catch up with Cathy. And even Mr H finally shipped in from his week in Croatia, just in time for the lasagne..
Those pics all on Cathy's phone..
Anyway – clogs return to Flatland tomorrow and H and I are off to The Retreat at Elcot Park, a little hotel near Newbury that will hopefully provide a nice spa, a facial, some decent grub and a bit of a rest! Maddie is coming too, and we are placing bets now as to how many poohs Mojo will have deposited (outside her 2 litter trays) in great dudgeon by the time we return. Eeeeeek x
