Quickie to say Hawksey, Zoe & I are off tomorrow to Greece at gnat's crack, joining the queues of screaming kids with parents in velour tracksuits at Gatwick, that I usually walk past thanking my lucky stars I'm going elsewhere – and now I've crossed over to the dark side that is charter flights to tiny airports in peak Sprog Holiday Season.
Aaaaaaahhhhh, shoot me now – or at least pack me off with multiple ear plugs and enormous sense of humour (Note to self – check vast store of drugs in kitchen – must be something akin to valium that will do the trick. Am sure I have liquid morphine somewhere)
Here's hoping all will be fine – at least its def hot in Greece, and I'm a dab hand with a kebab so no worries there.
And next Sun I have a delicious day of hanging around in Gatwick waiting for my flight to Belfast. Then driving hire car on my tod to join the surfing gang in Donegal on West Coast. Potential to get lost crossing Paddyland / get bedazzled by errant leprechauns / get baity at 1am when finally locate right village but can't find the house we've rented / get into bed with any of the others if I arrive to find no bed left (11 of us in house for 8 and I arrive last) – VERY HIGH ON ALL COUNTS!
Oh – and potential for me to no longer fit in the wetsuit that Vicki will kindly be taking out to Donegal form e – EVEN HIGHER. What a fat knacker – note to all chums: Take me for a jog soon as your act of charity. It is at least entertaining as I am a whale, and beating off the incoming harpoons is good for your batwings.
Good luck to Claire & Jon this week too – their twins due any day now – Harpo & Groucho, Bill & Ben, Rum & Coke, Googly & Spin all still good name options, despite your misgivings. And still enjoying the fact that Isla is not a good potential name for a girl if your surname's 'White'. Though 'Diamond' is a classy alternative…?
