Just thought I'd share this with you, as lots of you ask how my Mum's doing and lots of you will know that to be honest, she's going a wee bit batty.
Since she turned 80 in October, the answer in her own words is 'I'm not the woman I used to be'. It's getting increasingly evident that Mum has some form of dementia creeping up on her, which you can put down to old age forgetfulness for a while, but after a bit you start to realise its not all quite there any more.
Last week it kind of hit home when, bless her, she'd forgotten what to do with Xmas presents – even though I'd bought hers for her, and put post-its on with who they were for, she couldn't work out that they needed wrapping and a tag on each one. All a bit sad but you just have to work round these things, explain it again and check the next time if she's managed to do it ok.
Today though, the evidence of Mum getting a little less 'on the ball' did – I have to admit – actually make me laugh. Well, you really do have to find some slightly macabre black humour in…
walking to the front door…
picking up the post…
opening your Xmas card from your Mum…
only to find another Xmas card in the pile, rather strangely from her to us as well…
And then, blow me, a third one bang under the other two – all of which she must have sent on the same day
And to cap it all…. the bit that had me snorting (yes, bad daughter, but hey)
the greeting in the last one wishing us a Happy Xmas…
And all the VERY best for 1910!

I’m obviously evil too because that really made me laugh!
