Just back from Parkside, and nice to report that all good with himself the elf.
Usual half hour spent, this time, discussing the wonders of text messaging and 'modern' communications (guess his pigeon's been put out to grass, no more post deliveries by air).. and a bit on assessing the quality of hospital wards… and a bit on Chelsea playing Inter Milan… oh yes, and then the afterthought – the bit about my health!!!!
Anyway, huge relief as ever that paraprotein still behaving well with a continuing score of 'apostrophes 1' (very low). My free light chains are coming down slowly but steadily, which is apparently good – god this is a confusing disease. No rattle in chest despite my non-disappearing cough (reckon this one is enough to rival your usual winter splutterfest Mikey!) So – all signed off till after Cambodia – a whopping world record of 7 weeks till we have to go again. Bloody marvellous!
Do have to go for a bone density scan and a skeletal survey – ooh check out my Lovely Bones – but that's quite a nice short doze on a scanner so not bad at all.
Really nice to get the head space of 7 weeks without the potential for a disaster, well, barring the hot opportunity for me to take a tumble on the ski slopes at Stewarts' this weekend, overeat in Italy with Janine & Clare G in 3 weeks time or of course pick up some hideous internal organ-destroyer in Cambodia or Laos, but all in all – top banana and long may it, as ever, last!
Love to you all, Scotty.

Bloody marvellous news mate – well done you!
Give Stew-y a snog for me and don’t get to the bottom of a ski slope without having had a Grand Marnier crepe will you? My first one was at the tender age of 15 (when I no doubt hoped it would get me pissed) and it’s still up there on my list of the most exquisite things I’ve ever eaten, along with salmon skin hand rolls, my Grandma’s pressed beef and chip butties and tuna tartare at Kampa Park in Prague – ooh, I’m coming over all Proustian now, someone pass me a herbal tea!!
