Always a winner – two nights down at the coot with J&R. Tried out the food offering at the local pub on Fri eve, which reopened a few months back, then we were into the usual swing of Waitrose, dog walks, newspaper chilling, food prep, spot of gardening, dozing etc etc. Bloody marvellous.
Had the fire roaring in the back room keeping us roasty toasty and Maddie was delighted to nosh her way through poor Flossy's toy box, with the nobbly green ball a particular winner.
Then it was down to the local Cowfold farmyard for a bite of lunch on Saturday, lured by the unbeatable promise of Silly Moo cider and beefy hotdogs. For me, the only cider that I have ever liked, all made by their local apple trees and even a few apples from people like J&R who can drop theirs off in summer, in exchange for a bottle or two of the liquid stuff.
H at one bonding with the cows and all of us stuffing a foot long hot dog down in a matter of minutes, trying not to think of the link between the bovines and the lunch we were about to nosh. Yum very yum.
All polished off with the usual lamby roast in the coot on Sat eve – god knows how many of these we have devoured over the 20+ years that I've been coming to the cottage, but we never, ever tire of it! No better way to spend one of the (hopefully) last chilly & grey weekends of winter – come on Spring, get a wriggle on x
