Ta da da da da da DAAAAAA – the new Mr & Mrs Hawkes are officially back in the country!! And we seem to already have mastered the thrills of wedded life with 4 loads of washing and a lot of binbag management under our belts just this very first day of being home. I'm sure we'll be receiving our Blue Peter badge for Middle Aged Saddo-ness in the post shortly.
Talking of post – lovely to come back to the mountain of wedding cards we gathered both at the Big Event and on the mat since. Infinitely better than the ludicrous tax bill that also arrived, and continual (very sensible) harassment from our solicitor to actually complete the Will process we kicked off almost 2 years ago – the lawyer has changed company and had a baby since we first spoke and we still haven't nailed this ugly little sucker. Long may my head-in-the-sand-ness last…
The other thing that we came back to is the rather nice John Lewis reminder that the ooh-la-la prezzie pileage is being delivered tomorrow – hopefully closer to the 1pm end of the slot than the 7am very rude awakening it might be, as I suspect we may hear the magic lorry pushing its way past the never ending Stroud Road gas repairs earlier than might be ideal…
Have to admit, H & I were taking a gander (as you do, when it's too hot to go back out in the Caribbean-man sunshine and you've finally found WiFi in the land of technological barbarity) – and whipped onto Mr JL to see what gaps there are on the wedding list which we might use the (very handy, thanks to those of you who bought them) JL gift vouchers for. I could have put money on who would be those of our friends first on the list on the day it opened (buying their April's Fools Day surprises for us) and those who whipped up a flurry while we were on honeymoon and kindly did the deed. Thank you all! Anyway – suspect we're going to have a slightly larger than average recycling pile once the brown boxes appear tomorrow – hurrah hurrah, a very nice way to ease the pain of being in the last week of my sabbatical all too soon, boo.
That's it for now – anyone who hasn't pinged us a CD of photos (Tony Franco I hear yours are mighty fine, so don't be shy now!) then please, please do (Vicki and Liz T you normally take good pix?). A big thank you to Bart and Jo Close who – apart from the wedding photographer, who we were kind of hoping might well have a CD for us – are the only ones so far to cough some evidence of the Wonderful Wedding Weekend…. we'd love to see more and god knows we need to go through a few to find ones where we don't look like whales and where the 2000 pins in my hair were actually doing their job…
That's it for now – several episodes of Desperate Housewives and Glee to catch up on whie H goes round the park on his bike working off some of his (and mine ideally) honeymoon lard. Lots of photos to follow soon! Sx
