So – had the usual hard to fathom feedback from Parkside as regards results – but think its pretty good.
The 'apostrophes 1' and 'apostrophes 2' which H & I had always understood to be less than an actual score of one, now seem to mean 'about 1' and 'about 2' in real number terms – so rather than having an amount of paraprotein that is barely detectable, apparently it is on the scale. That's not good to hear.
But – it seems it might have been there, and crucially STABLE, for a number of months, quite a few possibly. And its such a hard little sod to measure anyway that moving from 'apostrophes 1' (which could be say 0.6 or 1.4) to a 2, isn't that big a shift. As long as the bloody thing malingers around the low numbers for a long time, the Prof – and we – are happy.
And apparently the full blood results were GOOD. Which is key, as its not just the PP score in isolation, but the damage that it will be doing to organs if it rises (or even if it doesn't, that's the confusing world of MM) which counts. So the only damage to my kidneys is the one I will be inflicting on them this weekend in Holland via large amounts of Cathy's favourite Pinky Vodka (such a naff brand name but fine when doused in Clog fruit juice) and at Elton John.
Still waiting for the skeletal results – I think they're still trying to look for my bones underneath the sea of blubber), so nothing to tell there.
Just to say, am VERY VERY (and a bit more) relieved that it's still ,low, seems stable for now and that even though its not great to know that it's about zero (full remission), this is the next best thing. Here's hoping the slippery slope is actually a very sticky one, and it doesn;t slide any further for a while.
Next session with Prof (as long as bones turn out ok) is 11th August – be prepared for sweaty jellyfish behaviour next coming your way around then, but until then SUMMER AHOY! Sx
