Went to see this on Friday
Absolutely, amazingly good. Best musical staging that I've ever seen (and as you know, I've seen more than a few!)
Kids singing was the quality of mini adults. Characterisation excellent. Lyrics top banana (written by Tim Minchin the stand-up comic, more geared at adults than spog nasties). Impact on small children amusing (8 year old girl in the row behind us spent much of it sobbing on her grandparents as it's pretty black in parts!)
And amazingly Hawksey thought it was 'one of the best I've ever seen. It was pacy, kept going, easy to follow, good acting, kids were fucking amazing and it reminded of my little girl' (who we last saw singing in a musical in Bristol). All good apart from the last bit which was a bit sad.
Anyway, it's just transferred into London – go see it!
