So – it's been a pretty good week all round!
Mr H, brown as a berry obvs, has returned to the land of Dora from his full 6 week stint in Chiclana.
Maddie made it back safely with H and trusty wingman Jules in the car, and we have secured an appointment at the Royal Vet College next Monday to find out how Maddie's newly diagnosed autoimmune condition can (we hope) be treated. That bit is definitely not good, but at least we have got the experts lined up and we are massively hoping that she will be ok.
Gorgeous little Polly (great-niece 3, Jess's second little girl) turned one. She and Lettie are v cute together – if facially quite different at the moment!
And I am DELIGHTED to report that my lovely old lady Maureen is finally due to be moved to the much nicer care home of her choice on Monday coming!!! I've been busting a gut to get someone to help intervene against Wandsworth Council's utter uselessness and indifference, from Maureen's GP to the social worker etc – and struck gold with a second letter to her MP, Fleur Anderson.
Politicians have never been my favourite bunch of people but this lady has come up trumps. Within just a few weeks of me writing to her about the poor conditions at the 'temporary' care home, Maureen will be heading to what we hope will be a far better home, near her old flat in Southfields.
A note of gentle warning so this situation never happens to anyone else – please sort out your Power of Attorney for yourself and your loved ones well before anything adverse happens. In Maureen's case, a dementia diagnosis, which no-one sees coming till it's actually here.
Anyway – huge hats off to Fleur Anderson, for pulling her finger out and getting this sorted when every other person had put Maureen firmly on the bottom of their lists. Her 86th birthday in July will be a damn sight better now than it would have been otherwise!!
And on that note, I am off tomorrow to Montenegro for a week with Janine. Yes, bloody typically, it looks like it's thunderstorms every day there, while Blighty is looking mighty balmy, at last. Ah well – more gins on the balcony for us.
Have a good week peeps x
