Aces Crawl Upwards

Phew – played hockey yesterday with my lovely Aces team and we FINALLY managed to get our first win of the season. Yes, the season that did actually start in, um, September. Oops.

Which takes us from 11th out of 12 (in the Middlesex Premier Division, so to be fair we're honestly not THAT crap) to the heady heights – or still comparative lows I guess – of 10th position. But – out of the relegation zone, as only the bottom two teams go back down.

Ah it's all to play for as the season enters its last 2 months – we just need to stay up or I don't get any exercise (no good playing sweeper at the back in a team which wins every week, I actually prefer being beaten, in a weird way).

And the weekly thrill of seeing how many calories get worked off in a game. Still don't understand how being beasted in the gym, one on one, by my sadistic personal trainer only burns off 500 cals, while hockey does over a thousand. Is it the adrenalin? Who knows.. Anyway, safe to say that it's rarely more calories than a breakfast bacon sarnie beforehand and a mass of baguette and low-class cheese and pickle afterwards, I suspect. Particularly when someone bring Fondant Fancies for teas.. sugary little suckers.

So – here's to a few more victories in the coming weeks (not too many obviously when I am away on hols, can't be having someone doing a better job at sweeper than I do, ideally!)

Come on the Aces! Sx
