Am sitting on the train as I type, with H, on our way back from 4 nights up in Harrogate at David & Mandy's lovely home.
Lots of reasons to visit – starting with a nice bottle of Ruinart to celebrate David having sold his IFA business into a larger provider, step one on the pathway towards retirement in the next year or two.
We were super lucky to have picked Thursday as our day to go to the Great Yorkshire Show as it was the only one of the 4 days to be dry, sunny and totally perfect for a full 8 hour wander round. 22,000 steps later my sore plantars were very displeased, but we had eaten every beige meaty pie that Yorkshire has to offer, the boys had done the Black Sheep tent proud and Mands & I had done our best to shop till we dropped, though only a new cap for me and some ginger sheep biscuits for Maureen's next visit.
Lots of animals everyone obvs – from the rabbit faced sheep to Highland cows, pigs with the biggest balls we had ever seen (and I'm not talking footballs.. apart from by size comparison), to horses etc etc. The cow parade alone had about 300 of them in it and I still only just about know my Belted Galloways from my Charolais..
From there it was out for a marginally less beige dinner and lots of 2 for 1 cocktails in Harrogate town, made easier as Macey dog was with one of D&M's daughters and Maddie was at home with Jules & Nicky very kindly holding the furry reins.
Even managed to go to the cinema for a second time in one week – that's the GB summertime weather for you – not as you might think to watch the Barbie film – we saw Mission Impossible – but the boys just couldn't resist..
Hehe thanks to Dav & Mands for putting up with us for 4 days – see you in Crete at the end of Aug!! x
