Tomorrow is almost upon us – the first day of (hopefully this time!) never being quite as ginormous as I now find myself, post-xmas gorging and generally living life to the (usually far too) full.
Hence today's 'for the last time, stuff it all in' major carb-count, consisting of:
– a slice of breakfast toast, laden with bacon and scrambled egg
– a scrawny jacket potato for hockey teas, plus baked beans, those cheeky carb-loaded brown devils
– a massive unexpected result for the first time ever in hockey history – an iced ring doughnut also provided for tea, speckled with hundreds and thousands, surely a special final gift from the carb gods
– half a white choc chip cookie provided by the opposition's umpire, odd but accepted and scoffed
– 2 sausage rolls, courtesy of Mr H's Xmas bake-a-thon – bloody tasty, with a spot of English mustard to set them off a treat. All the while ignoring the beseeching dog head placed on my knee during consumption – not a chance Scrumpy, you will have crunchy nuggies twice tomorrow and every day afterwards and i - gawd help me - will not
– Almost forgot the triangle of Toblerone and the Lindor choc that also found their way into the endless gob, well they have to go before it all starts, hey?
And that's before the 'Last Supper' of roast lamb and its potato and parsnip chums, comes along at 8pm tonight.
so long, farewell and adieu carbs. It has been lovely knowing you, but all good things must come to an end. And judging how hard it was trotting not just myself but the Xmas excesses up and down the hockey pitch in the torrential rain today, this has now come not a moment too soon!
