Fab Cornwall weekend to celebrate my impending coming of age with Janine, Jane and Sarah T, though sadly minus Clare G who was stuck rather unhandily in Sydney of all places.
Stayed in Polzeath, resplendent with sheep balloons, a great base for a leisurely cycle along the Camel Trail. Loved the fact it is flat as a pancake though we discovered that 4 x 50 something’s on hire bikes for 12 miles equates to multiple very sore lady butts..
Had 2 dinners in our house, and one out at Nathan Outlaw’s in Port Isaac. Which has one of the smallest loos in the world, and on this, our second visit there, rather diminutive food portions to match….
On Day 2 we lost Jane for 24 hours to a bug, so just Janine, Sarah and I made it out on the 2 hour speedboat trip from Padstow. Dolphins were hiding, but saw plenty seals and more seabirds than the average punter (us) could really tell the difference between.
In between, we pottered down to the beach in Polzeath for a paddle, over to Rock, to Tintagel Castle and back and forth to Bodmin for the train. Still sitting on it as I write. Cornwall really is a bloody long way away…
Shame I couldn’t make it to either the Catz 30 year college reunion or Sophie’s 40th birthday party last night – but my own 50th took precedence. And I’m still rather liking my special sheep balloons and the sheepy cake that Jane made. For a diabetic, she certainly whacks in a massive pile of chocolate..
Cheers girls for a laughter-filled weekend. I have just managed not to add in the video of the crab, whelk and octopus dancing, but will replay it to myself whenever I need a hell of a hoot…
