Having had my birthday somewhat rudely gazumped by the 2 day BAT workshop plonked right on top of it, it could have been a total blow out this year.<\/p>\n

But – fab that a few rather nice things did indeed make the last few days feel like a birthday weekend after all.<\/p>\n

So thanks to the dozen or so old hockey laggards who tipped up to The Snug at The Bank in Clapham last night, a few of whom crawled on with us to the Southsider for yet more cocktails into the small hours. Vicki – your metal sheep was indeed a prezzie winner.<\/p>\n

Was also well chuffed with the birthday cake (and mercifully few candles) that the Aces girls stumped up after our game on Saturday – it turned our 'we were winning 2-0 but managed to lose 3-2' debacle into a much more joyous affair. I never knew you could get a cake that barfs a huge pile of real Smarties out of its centre when you cut into it!  <\/p>\n

Also had a fab eve with Janine & Ross on Friday – the perfect mix of cocktails then Thai food (ah, so what if they don't really go together!) plus the funniest birthday card I've had in years – a compilation of them going round London and photographing every street sign that was something to do with sheep, shepherds, Scott or mutton (moi?) while holding a 'Happy Birthday Scotty' sign. Ross must have loved that… And it was also the moment I perfected my  'holding two balloons to the side of my face so I look thinner in photos' technique – definitely one to remember.<\/p>\n

Plus am v much looking forward to seeing other fab friends in the next week or two as I 'max that birthday' in my usual inimitable style.<\/p>\n

But of course Mr H has to trump everythign as he really pulled the stops out this year. Despite it not being a 'big' birthday he went all out with:<\/p>\n

i) Hot bath waiting on arrival home from workshop - candlelit, bubbles etc<\/p>\n

ii) With chilled ccocktail, crisps and dip on side of the tub<\/p>\n

iii) 3 course dinner – seafood, pork & crackling, choccy pud as per the wifely request<\/p>\n

And then the 'we're going to play a game now' moment. Which in a nutshell involved me doing 'hot, cold, veeeeery cold, warmer, hot, reaaaalllllly hot' etc as I hunted round the kitchen, only to finally alight on the giant balloon which was 'scorching hot'. At which point I at last spotted the rather sparkly little number inside the balloon on a bed of coloured bits of paper.<\/p>\n

Cue – the gripping of a fork, kneeling on Scrumpy's dogbed and stabbing of balloon to release a cloud of coloured tickertape and…<\/p>\n

A crackingly lovely diamond ring – I guess you'd called it an Eternity ring (it probably feels like an eternity for the poor bloke, being married to me!). Wow. A stunner of a ring, actually for me.<\/p>\n

Anyway – it's gorgeous, fits perfectly and the Boy Done Very Good. Hurrah! (You'll have to ignore how elephant-wrinkly my hands look, try and focus on the shiny thing in the middle..) Lucky Me! x<\/p>\n
