Hmm, the only downside to last night at the O2 was that we had standing tickets – and this body ain't coping too well with the whole standing thing. Or walking. Or working with hunched shoulders. or staying asleep at night having leant on any of said joints, which then wake me up in protest. Or anything really that involves my neck \/ head \/ shoulders and lower back…. and yep, that's pretty much everything.<\/p>\n
So it wasn't super ideal to be standing for a few hours at the Queen gig, especially after hockey which never hurts while playing but turns me into Frankenstein's Monster for the 24 hours afterwards in terms of no neck turning, leaning head back = sharp pain and being totally knackered as I'm too old and unfit to really knock out a 70 minute match (although I did get Man of the Match last week, which doesn't often happen, and two votes this week as well for an epic save on the line… but that's another story)<\/p>\n
Long and the short of it is I am now booked in for some facet joint injections to try and sort the neck\/head\/shoulders bit out - which seems to be a local anaeasthetic and steroid gunk – for an initial two sites right up in my neck area. And which, according to the doc, takes a full joyous twenty minutes to complete. Now that's something to look forward to… not. Liz has had this done several times and suffice to say, it doesn't sound too nice and requires some sitting still and being sensible afterwards for several days – yes, two of my definitely lesser developed behaviours.<\/p>\n
Mon 2nd Feb is the day – and as Caroline the physio-trained bod in my hockey side said 'well, at least it's your neck and you'll be face down, so you can't see the big needle coming' – cheers Caro….!<\/p>\n
