Wow – what a great week that just was. The annual girls' shopping and bars trip to Miami, followed by our return to Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos islands.<\/p>\n

Weather in Miami was pretty good as it's always a thunderstorm-y time of year out there – no matter which month you travel in – and we were treated to a particular spectacular downpour as we drove back in our cute little pale blue convertible Beetle from beloved Sawgrass Mills mall. Thank god the roof was up – we were practically aquaplaning back down the I-95 – and then we literally drove out of the side of the storm and all was sunny and dry again. Phew.<\/p>\n

Stayed at the COMO Metropolitan for the first time and liked it – up at about 24th Street\/Collins, newly tarted up, cool decor and – ha ha ha – a Wednesday evening gin event where drinks are $5 for 'the ladies'. Little did they know the Hawkes\/Capon combo was on its way… Discovered a very nice new gin from California that Mr H will be getting in his Christmas stocking (c\/o Amazon UK – is there anything they don't sell these days??!) Good job he never reads my thrilling blog..<\/p>\n

And from there off to Parrot Cay. Where 2 years ago we had a slightly disappointing time in their bottom end room, which was still an arm and a leg and just didn't deliver on lots of levels. At the time they upgraded us to a much larger room with huge long balcony, which was a good start, even though the overall service was still rather patchy and lead to the manager calling me back in the UK to apologise. As a result, they promised us a 3 day freebie stay in a 'Beach House' if we were ever to come back.<\/p>\n

And which of course – we decided to call them on, and much to our massive delight, it turned out to be an even better upgrade to a full on Beach Villa! Usually about $3,000 a night (as if we'd ever cough that up) – 4 showers including the outdoor one and the plunge pool shower, two bathrooms, little pool (hotter than a bath, never used it!), 2 sets of sunbeds, our own beach area on a raised bit, conservatory area for relaxing and a monstrous large living area. Ah, how the truly loaded obviously live… Even a bottle of top notch champagne to welcome us in.. We totally lucked out.<\/p>\n

Add in some incredibly good weather – about 90 degrees all day – and we were having a ball. Although, funnily enough, never quite got round to walking the jogging trail to the coconut plantation or using the tennis courts – waaaaaay too hot. Why would you ever leave the delights of the perfect white sand and incredibly turquoise, stunning sea?<\/p>\n

Even ended up ordering room service for 2 of the three nights was we couldn't tear ourselves away from the luxury of the mega-pad, not least as we had a jolly good stash of Tanqueray and slimline tonics squirrelled away in our kitchen there. Did just about manage to order two strong pina coladas to have for a last sundowner, as that's always a ritual and they went down veeeeery well…<\/p>\n

Two very lucky ladies – who will never return to Parrot Cay as the bottom level room just wouldn't quite live up to this treat. But thanks for having us anyway! x<\/p>\n
