Blimey, I have been KNACKERED since we got back from the Seychelles – a not very handy combination of very stiff\/painful joints (always handy on a moving boat..) leading to limited sleep and then of course quite a long journey back. Hawksey losing the tickets for the boat to the island with the airport on it (3 hours before take off, eek) and the 5 hour wait in Dubai airport between 2-7am for our connecting flight were particular highlights. Hence the delays in updating the old blogeroo.<\/p>\n

But – we did have a good time, notwithstanding my physical failings and more rain than you'd expect seasonally. Our room at the Maia was 100% spanking, with two private pool areas (daaaarling) as well as a huge room, own bar with fridge, ice maker (and constant supply of booze), day bed area, outdoor bath, sunbeams where you could trail your feet in the water etc. Bloody lovely.<\/p>\n

Having picked up our boat, we then pooled between islands, this one being La Digue, our favourite. Climbed over a small rocky outcrop to a 300m white beach with only us on it. Woof. There's quite a lot of that to be had in the Seychelles, every bugger is in their hotel room, leaving the beaches just for us..<\/p>\n

Also stopped for a morning on Curieuse Island, where the giant tortoises roam freely. One managed to scare me as we came down a rocky path, only for the 'rock' by my foot to stick its head out at me – bejesus. And yes, H did video two of them having very loud nooky – that man is surely not 50?<\/p>\n

And of course managed to have a few boozy soirees on board – John Nurse managing to use an entire bottle of the local Takanaka dark rum on two rounds of Painkiller cocktails for the 4 of us. Good job the floor is always rocking beneath your feet, so you can't tell quite how pissed you are.<\/p>\n

And Mr H managed to sate his piscine hunter-gatherer lust by chasing down yet another local fishing boat and buying a whole tuna and a barracuda from one, or was it a red snapper that day – all for a fiver. Hey presto – sashimi starter and tuna steak main course a la creole.<\/p>\n

Even time for some romantic beach photos – with my new trick of the 'hiding whale like blubber behind a big rock' approach. Works a treat, hey? x<\/p>\n
