Am feeling very slightly dejected at the prospect of losing the services of my beloved left hand for the next week or two, and then it being below par for the next couple of months as the carpal tunnel surgery heals. I go into the New Vic Hosp at 1pm today.<\/p>\n
That'll be no hockey (well, I'm a bit too buggered for that anyway), no dog walks unless I master both holding Scrumpy and lobbing the wangy-thing with her ball with the one hand and general hassle for showering, hair drying, getting dressed, no driving, eating with my right hand (my, how refined that's going to look – not) etc etc. Boo hiss arse bum.<\/p>\n
Poor old lefty – he has served me well for the last nearly 46 years with barely a scratch – feels a touch harsh to be putting him under the knife this afternoon, but hey ho, here we go..<\/p>\n
Final pre-op meal has been had (granola with a treat of half a banana, despite me infinitely preferring the idea of a full cooked English), am now supping the last water I'm allowed (cut off time 10am) and already thinking to what my post-op choice of hospital sandwiches will be. Tuna mayo, the old favourite? Maybe the smoked salmon, just because its there? Or a surprise entrant – perhaps a cheeky egg mayonnaise… <\/p>\n
