It's been a busy week…<\/p>\n
Monday – saw Prof. Says he wants to run my heart\/rheumatoid chap results past the Amyloid Centre and also possibly the Mayo Clinic, as think I may have a rare something or other. Great – something rare in the already rare world of Myeloma, my how special I feel. It could be bad news – e.g. light chain proteins up to no good, or might not be myeloma at all. So that gives a wide spectrum of vague hope through to shitting myself to consider. Will hopefully hear back from this by end of week (although have twigged that Prof is now in the US till we go on hols next Wed, so not overflowing with anticipation of a swift resolution).<\/p>\n
Tuesday – saw the wrist chap, Paul Davey. Had got my MRI scan results and finally acknowledged that I would indeed have a sore wrist as I seem to have quite severe arthritis in it. Lots of thickening of the lining of the wrist, '5 out of the 8 'pebbles' in the wrist are damaged', holes in the bone, tear in the blah blah bit etc. I was fully expecting him to say 'sorry, still can't see a thing, give it a few more months to mend', so that was a bit of a surprise. Bugger – I now have arthritis to add to the list. No wonder I get up and down off the floor like a bleddy crippled whale.<\/p>\n
Wednesday – saw the Rheumatologist, Hugh Jones. He'd got my 2 shoulder MRIs back, and a similar picture. 'Yes, you've definitely got arthritis, don;t know yet if it's rheumatoid or another one, and your left shoulder has some loose bits floating about that I can hoover out of it at a later date'. Oh goody. He thinks that heart problems could possibly be caused my major inflammation across my chest, which would be good in a way (no heart problem itself) and even better if its not the myeloma causing all the trouble – it could possibly be a totally separate thing – arthritis, inflammation and any other straw that I can clutch at, in order for it not to be myeloma on its way back. <\/p>\n
Today – a day off! Rather nice as last Fri was the 8 hour marathon for the angiogram, so quite a thrill to finally get a day's break, be able to not bother to wash my hair, wear a grubby tracksuit and do Mum's lunch for her (no carer in the house – hurrah!). <\/p>\n
Friday – have to go to Parkside to get a bag of steroids dripped into me – Rheumatoid man wants to try this to see if it gives me an instant pick me up (wouldn't that be lovely!) Apparently it also makes you bright red in the face so I shall be looking like Mrs Claus Mid-Menopause when I go out for dinner that eve. <\/p>\n
Next week – hopefully a combined view from Prof, heart man and rheumatologist as to best way forward. Rheumo wants me to start on an anti-inflammatory called Methotrexate – you can imagine my joy when I realised this is what Mum aged 86 takes for her arthritic knee. Oh good, we can have a weekly drug party together. Anyway – more on this when I know, as it does seem to change from day to day!<\/p>\n
6 days to Oman holiday – fingers crossed we get lift off x<\/p>\n
