Well, things today are a good few steps up from yesterday so that's a good start.
\nTemperature has come back down via the IV drug bombardment, although I have come out with a splendid case of cherry red face and cleavage probably due to taking yesterday morning's steroids before the planned chemo session – so I still,look like I'm on fire. Have been hugging ice packs and cold towels all day. Phew-ee.
\nLungs are apparently only operating at about 1\/3 capacity though which is one of the reasons why I'm not getting enough oxygen – basically the top bit is open for business but the lower two thirds are full of something, I'm not quite sure what. The physios have me blowing hard into enclosed tubes, doing sets of 'high knees' then bending forwards with hands on knees and anything else that should be laughably simple but results in me coughing my guts up, and hopefully starting to loosen whatever evil mush is residing in the lower two thirds. Have certainly coughed like a 40 a day lifelong smoker all day. Laughing fortunately has the same effect and is much more pleasant. I'm hooked up to oxygen permanently, released only for trips to loo which feel like incredible freedom when the nasal tubes are off and the body monitors are also removed, sooooo nice albeit brief.
\nSlightly overdosed on visitors today as my morning, afternoon and early evening planning, with Hawksey bringing replacement pyjamas and husbandry kindness in between was probably a bit much for Day 2 in here, lovely though all the visits were. As ever, getting that tricky balance between gagging to see people and not feeling 'stuck in hospital' too much vs actually being a bit shagged still. I think I'll take the tiredness as hopefully will just kip well tonight.
\nThus far I still have the whole HDU to myself which is great for the three nurse to 1 patient ratio and service, though they said it was unusual not to get an overnight admission so I may get a Unit mate tonight. I've never been in here but the main area is a large open bay with only curtains between the 4 bed areas, as you'd need for an emergency admission where medical treatment is the top of the list, not whether there's an en suite loo or a telly in the room. Then I am in this one side room, not hugely nice as its still HDU and the focus is on critical nursing, but it's fine for now. Although as its a Friday and I'm not sure who's in over the weekend, I am wondering if this will be home till Monday, sigh…
\nOther stuff? Just having the first of evening tablets and a Fragmin injection to prevent blood clotting as I'll be bed bound for a bit. Now my IV antibiotic is being attached, luckily this cannula should be good for a third day as changing them is a bit of a sore process. It's a slightly 'different' bedtime routine to usual but at least bloody Revlimid has been knocked on the head for now as all chemo drugs are off, which is sort of an upside.
\nI think I'll have to wait till Mon or so to see how things are and what the knock on effect of this is likely to be though. At its best, we restart chemo next week, this turns into a 5 week cycle and only puts me one week behind track. At its worst? It's much longer and throws out a wobbly I haven't even foreseen yet. Will let you know which way it goes.
\nIn the meantime my one night at the Pig Hotel in Bath next week is now postponed and our ELO tickets for Wed eve are the next thing looking majorly under threat, bloody bollocks. Any fans out there, text me. Will try and Whack up a daily update on here as was up till 1am last night, slightly madly answering all your lovely missives. Tonight, tech is being turned off early doors and hopefully kip will be mine.

\nPrize goes to Liz for the pot of pineapple chunks which apparently help dissolve mouth and throat mucus if eaten a couple of pieces at a time over several hours. Who knew?
