Greetings campers
\nNot a huge amount to report today apart from the all-important…. I'm Going Home Tomorrow.
\nI carried on with all the antibiotics, nebulisers etc today – including a new toy called a Turbohaler – and don't envy the poor Pharmacy woman whose job is it is get her head round all the changes and additions in drugs that I've had, so she can pack me off with a bag of oral-only drugs when I escape tomorrow.
\nI. Cannot. Bloody. Wait.
\nI am covered in the sticky grey residue that the monitor stickers leave (always in places like over your shoulders that you can't reach to rub off yourself), feel sweaty and minging as they use some kind of non-cotton bedding here that makes you wringing wet the moment you get into bed and overall am feeling really ratty and ready to go home. Hot bath, posh bath oil, Mojo probably peering over the edge, here I come.
\nMight even treat myself to a turn on the scales as for once the diuretics have worked in my favour and I actually have ankles and a weight that starts with a number I feel acceptance for at last.
\nH has taken to either doing a drive-by outside where I go to wave at the window, or this afternoon to appearing with the dog in the Common undergrowth outside my window – I could see him mouthing 'where's Mummy?' to wind up a very confused Scrumpy who hadn't quite worked out she needed to check out the third floor of the building opposite to actually see the stir crazy woman inside.
\nBeing here has given rise to quite a lot of fear and worrying about having to come back in for the transplant, which I am so far trying to keep in a locked box in my head. I'm in denial that this is even on the horizon, let alone that it will involve 14-21 nights here and feeling truly appalling: makes this little stay look like a drop in the ocean. I think it's all going to be pretty tough over the coming months, but for now we keep going on the chemo treadmill.
\nProf isn't yet sure when the new chemo drug will actually arrive from the US so I'm guessing treatment will restart mid or late next week, but will confirm when I know more. Gives me time at home to see if I have any more breath or energy than I did before I came in, and something to feedback to Prof as to whether the transplant somehow has to deliver against sorting out this problem, or whether maybe – just maybe – the existing tablets will in time go some way towards resolving this most critical of medical issues.
\nAnyway for now, it's one more sleep and I will be up and packing the remnants of the Giant Buttons. Thanks today to David Rea for popping in for a good natter with a stonking box of flowers, just fab. And to Janine for the afternoon pop in, and for volunteering to be my escape buddy while H is at work tomorrow.
\nTime for the evening 'room tidy' (sad git) then it's counting the hours till I wobble out the front door……
