Nothing. Nada. Diddly squat etc. All of which is making me incredibly antsy!<\/p>\n<p>I don&#39;t remember having a week quite like this. I don&#39;t seem to be able to settle to anything much. Apart from filling my chops with every type of food that I should not be eating, from a selection of bar chocolates (thanks Dav &amp; Mands), to a huge bag of very onion-breathy crisps, over-filled, delicious but bad for you baguettes and a large pizza among the poor choices of the week.<\/p>\n<p>SO frustrating that Prof, having said &#39;oh yes I&#39;ll be seeing you re next steps before your next usual appointment&#39;, then didn&#39;t get the referral letter off to Kings for a whole 8 days!!!! Even though they are the specialist I do think they sometimes have no bloody idea what it feels like being the patient at the other end, waiting and wondering. So rather wish they had managed my expectations better re timings and news.&#0160;<\/p>\n<p>Every month I get an updated letter from Prof re &#39;my latest&#39; which comes from his secretary and which I duly file, entirely unread, in my Prof email folder. For once I actually read it this month and discovered that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It now runs to 4 full pages, detailing all the lines of treatment that I have had since 2008.<\/li>\n<li>I had a treatment called Elotuzumab for several months back in 2016, and have no recollection of that at all<\/li>\n<li>I was switched from the chemo drug &#39;Velcade&#39; to Velcade Lite&#39;&#39; at the end of 2019 and don&#39;t remember any chat about that, nor do I have any idea what the difference between Full Fat and Lite is &#8211; hopefully some calories?<\/li>\n<li>He apparently diagnosed me with paraneoplastic syndrome years ago, which is basically &#39;other shitty stuff&#39; that happens due to the cancer. Could be anything from dizzyness and difficulty walking to memory loss and sleep disturbances (the second two being right up my alley). Again, never heard that actual term from his lips (although&#8230; hmm.. memory loss??)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More relevantly, when Prof said he though I should be screened for amyloidosis again (something I am def hoping I do not also have), that&#39;s because he is now mentioning in my letter that &#39;the marrow shows an amorphous dense eosinophilic material in the periosteum consistent with amyloid deposition&#39;. Which translates as &#39;he can see amyloid&#39;. Now you can see why it&#39;s so hard to decipher what the hell is going on because the medical terminology is a bitch.&#0160;<\/p>\n<p>Most amusingly (not) I am now down as being 57 years of age! Sod off, I might look at least that age, but I am only 55 you cheeky gits!@!!<\/p>\n<p>H got back from skiing last night, also at least I now have some company as I bounce off the walls at home. Maddie has managed to lose a claw somehow and then got an infected paw, so she is off games and there aren&#39;t even dog walks for distraction! But yes, quite a lot in the diary, I just have to try and put the drip, drip, drip of the wait into the back of my mind &#8211; though that is easier said than done.<\/p>\n<p>I even had two vivid nightmares this week &#8211; pretty unusual for me &#8211; one of which involved me walking up to the sound of me screaming out loud &#39;you c+nts&#39; in a terrified voice, as I thought I was leaping down some carpeted stairs to front up to some ex neighbours who were turning the ground floor lights on and off in the middle of the night to scare me! Cancer, you are responsible for endless shit, you total mind fucker.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully more clarity to come at some point, but for now I&#39;m hoping that the very sweet leak-identifying man who is creeping round the house now (luckily in broad daylight) can work out where the six, yes six, leaks in our kitchen ceiling are raining down from, so we can at least get that one patched up and sorted soon x<\/p>\n<p>&#0160;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I might as well say out upfront &#8211; if you were looking for an update, there is absolutely nothing new to report re what happens next.
